You are what you eat, and if you’re reading this, what you’re made of is important to you. The foods we eat play an incredibly important role not just in how we look, but in how we feel and how we perform as athletes. Despite all of the supplements, energy foods and drinks, and celebrity diets we’re bombarded with every day, simple choices in everyday eating make the biggest impact on your body and mind.

This clinic will focus on eating the way humans evolved to eat, instead of eating the way advertisers want us to eat. We’ll cover not just how Paleolithic people ate and lived, but how you can use those principals to make the best diet decisions every day.

Regardless of whether you’re just starting out or an experienced athlete, a healthy diet is the cornerstone of fitness – with the right building materials and fuel, you can create a better body and a fantastic race.

Running Free and Natural

This presentation will take an in depth look at how we should run to be highly efficient and economical vs the way many athletes run today along with the obstacles that prevent us from stepping out of the box to become the free and natural runner. We will start by looking at the way most people run today, the shoes that we have available and how they affect our gait, the natural way we are designed to run, stride rate and length, body posture and other specifics that are critical to make the transition.

  1. Intro to Running Free and Natural
  2. The way most athletes run today
  3. Shoe selection and barefoot comparison
  4. Ideal body position ie: head, hips, arm carry
  5. Stride rate and length that leads to becoming efficient
  6. Foot strike and transition through the 1st metatarsal push off
  7. Practice time

This will be an indoor/outdoor clinic. The first part of the clinic will be held at JackRabbit on 14th St in a classroom format, using the video system on JackRabbit’s treadmills to demonstrate differences in running form. Then we’ll take a jog over to the west side highway, where you’ll work with Joe and his Northeast coach Steve Fluet to practice some of the things you learned and get a feel for how you can improve your running form. Please come dressed to be indoors for 1:30-2:00 hrs, then to be outside exercising lightly for about 1:00 to 1:30 hrs.
